To see a hillside white with dogwood bloom is to know a particular ecstasy of beauty, but to walk the gray Winter woods and find the buds which will resurrect that beauty in another May is to partake of continuity. Hal Borland
A quick Christmas present tip for someone who loves bright colours and bling. All you need is a piece of chain, some beads and a piece of metal (these come ready from the crafts stores) and small pincers to make this unique gift!
A few days in Finland ahead, so it’s time to take out all the mittens, scarves and hats; not to mention a coat that could pass for a sleeping bag 🙂 Jacket: Esprit
If you’re into Christmas markets, the Plaisirs d’hiver in Brussels offers a touch of winter magic at the heart of the city. The area around Place Sainte Catherine, Bourse and the Grand Place is full of stalls and different activities.
For this Christmas we got a beautiful pre-fab house imported all the way from Finland. If you feel like building your own this Christmas, you can find a recipe and instructions for example HERE.
Tonight we’re going for some veggie fast food. I’m not sure when exactly Chana appeared at Parvis de Saint Gilles, but immediately when I walked in I was sold by the warm and authentic atmosphere. The pitta breads are made by hand in the open kitchen, the flavours are fresh and quickly convince you to believe that nothing here comes from a can. When I inquire about the charming clay bowls that seem to fill the kitchen and the window shelves but the lady behind the counter tells me that they are not for sale, they are made by the owner’s wife and all the bowls are used in turns for serving the delicious falafels and pakoras. To my delight she hints that sometime next year they might start selling these objects as all the customers seem to ask the same question. Bon appétit!
The Saint-Gillbillies at Parvis de Saint Gilles on Friday. The place was packed and the atmosphere went through the roof.
