divine avocado & chocolate face mask

While superfoods work wonders from the inside, there is no harm in turning to the pantry for a luxurious skin treatment every now and then. And that’s just what I did yesterday morning when I felt like giving my skin a beauty boost. This rich face mask feels wonderful and smells divine, leaving the skin moisturized, soft and radiant.  Avocado has important vitamins (C & E) that nourish the skin, oleic acid that moisturizes, regenerates and reduces irritation and it’s antioxidant carotenoids can help to protect the skin from environmental damage. Raw cacao powder is another superfood that your skin will love: Rich in minerals and polyphenol antioxidants raw cacao nourishes the skin and can protect it from premature oxidation (= younger looking skin for longer!).  The healing and moisturizing effects of Argan oil are well-known, so let’s add a drop or two of that too.

This recipe makes enough for two people:

2 heaping tbsp of soft, organic avocado

1 heaping tbsp of raw organic cacao powder

1 tsp organic argan oil

Mix & stir all ingredients in a small bowl, breaking the avocado completely with a fork until you have a smooth, creamy texture that looks like chocolate mousse. Spread a thick layer on clean skin and wash off with warm water after 15 minutes. If you didn’t use all of the mousse, add some organic honey and you have a little dessert!

  1. I’m not sure this would make it on to my face…it looks way too delicious not to eat! I bet it feels amazing though. Might be something to try this weekend! =)

    • My husband tried it and it’s pretty bitter 😀 But you can mix any left-overs with honey and then go ahead and enjoy!

  2. Hey Am! Thanks for linking up today- this is such a great idea! I always feel like I’m getting ripped off when I buy masks from the stores… and you never know what exactly goes into those things! Hope to see more from you 🙂
