Last night in a dream I was walking under the high ceilings of our Brussels apartment. My key still fit the door and the evening light was flooding in like it always did at dinner time. The house was empty, it was resting in the in-between, waiting for new life to put flesh on its bones. We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away, someone said. Do those rooms, those streets corners, those cafés and market places carry my reflections? Can something in me be found only by going back there? What would such a meeting be like? Advertisements
Last Friday the “Apéros du Parc Josaphat” was still inhabiting it’s winter home at the abandoned tram depot in Schaerbeek (Rue Rubens 95) and we got to enjoy a glass of wine & some vegetarian tapas in the beautiful industrial setting. Music was good, the open wood fire was crackling and people were smiling; All in all a nice way to start the weekend. I’m not completely sure when the Apéro will move outdoors for the summer season, but you can check out their Facebook page before heading towards Schaerbeek.
What a surprise in the garden this morning! Snow is like sense of harmony falling from the sky, covering tile and concrete with it’s delicate feather blanket. Wishing a lot of light to your weekend.

One woman, one menu of the day, a few rustic wooden tables and a cute little kitchen at the back. L’Epicerie just off Place du Chatelain offers an authentic and warm atmosphere – a great place for lunch. Rather than cool and commercial, L’Epicerie has a back to basics -feel: The food is simple and tasty, made from good quality ingredients with love. Address: Rue du Page 66
Oops, one day late! And I was already so proud of myself for keeping the Christmas calendar alive every day. Yesterday we went shopping for ingredients for the delicious Christmas dishes at Ateliers des Tanneurs – the best bio market in the city – just behind Place Jeu de Balle and of course when taking a stroll through this interesting neighborhood and the open air second hand market you need to take your time to enjoy the atmosphere. Thanks An for the pictures!
The Saint-Gillbillies at Parvis de Saint Gilles on Friday. The place was packed and the atmosphere went through the roof.
