The perfect Red Lips, naturally!

In search of the perfect red lipstick, I’ve tried many brands and many shades over the years. Often they have been just a bit too pink or too orange. When I heard about this new comer on the organic cosmetics market, I was eager to give it a try! When HAVU Cosmetics, a small Finnish company started by just 19-year old student of chemistry and biotechnology Lumi Maunuvaara, opened their online store on the 7th of August 2018 offering lipstick in three shades, everything was sold out within hours. Ever since the product was introduced at the Habitare-fair in Helsinki last autumn, it’s launch was internationally anticipated. Still, on their instagram account the team behind Havu said that the reception of their online store took them by surprise and they promised to manufacture more products as soon as possible. I was just fast enough to sneak one lipstick in RED into my shopping basket and check out before the virtual shelves were screaming emptiness. A few days later I heard the postman struggling to push …

Sunday excitement at Tivoli Gardens

No matter how old you are Tivoli Gardens is sure to bring out the child within you. Today we laughed, screamed from the bottom of our lungs and shouted from the top of our voices as we hurled through the air on the many magical theme park rides. Tivoli Gardens is a fantastic universe with a distinct old world feel down to the last detail. Walking along the narrow streets of the China Town felt like we were characters in the movie Spirited Away, just waiting for the dragons and demons come to life as the lanterns would light up. Aside from the exciting & terrifying rides, Tivoli offers plenty of choices for eating out as well as concerts, theatre, aquarium and plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces to relax and recuperate. After an action-packed day we found a calm evening falling by the water’s edge as we strolled through beautiful avenues and quiet streets to the restaurant Höst, which deserves all the praise it has acquired for it’s stunning rustic design and affordable organic gourmet cuisine. We …

rejuvenating yogurt face mask

Natural organic yogurt has multiple recognized health benefits and many of these work on the skin too. High in vitamins (B2, B12, B5) and minerals (Calcium, Zinc), natural yogurt nourishes, hydrates and protects the skin. The anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties as well as probiotics in yogurt can help relieve skin conditions such as acne. Honey softens and moisturizes while oats gently exfoliate the skin and clean pores. Aloe vera (with over 75 potentially active constituents including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, saponins and salicylic acids) has a calming, anti-inflammatory effect and can help skin healing by promoting new cell growth. 1 tsp organic natural yogurt (Greek style goat’s milk yogurt if possible) 1 tsp organic honey 1 tsp organic oat meal ½ tsp aloe vera gel Simply mix all ingredients in a small cup and while you let the oats soften for a few minutes, wash your face with warm water (or do a facial steam to open your pores). Apply the mask on dry skin, sit back and relax for 10-15 min before washing …

easy chia jam

5 dl of frozen berries (blueberries & raspberries) 3 table spoons chia seeds 1 dl water 2 table spoons of coconut sugar or organic honey Let the berries melt. Mix the chia seeds and water in a bowl and leave for 10 min so that the chia seeds soak up the water, forming a jelly. Add the melted berries and sugar or honey, mix thoroughly. Store in the fridge and enjoy within a few days time. This goes well together with your breakfast yogurt, porridge, on pancakes, at brunch, and it’s simply yummy!
