Yesterday I was Christmas shopping and decided to pop by at Les Petits Riens on Rue Americaine. To my surprise I found signs pointing Up right next to the entrance to what looked like a designer pop-up store. Walking up the beautiful wooden staircase I saw portraits of participating designers; both well-established creators as well as up-and-coming talents. My curiosity grew and as I entered the spacious and atmospheric apartment turned into sustainable design heaven I could only admire the people who came up with this great idea! Up Store offers furniture, home decor, lightning, clothes and toys; all re-worked from recycled materials into contemporary design objects. Equipped only with my smartphone I took a few snapshots of the store, which is open until the 23rd of December and absolutely worth a visit!
I still had some pictures from the Second Life Festival that took place at Hotel Le Berger a couple of weekends ago, so here are a few snapshots from the atmospheric hotel rooms full of jewellery, handmade hats and t-shirts, home decoration items and much more. Keep yourself updated about future events at Second Life Festival’s website. Here is one date to note in all agendas: Vintage fashion show at Hotel Le Berger on Saturday 23.11.
Is it me or is it more and more difficult to get up in the mornings? Even if I come from Scandinavia where the winters are dark and cold, I’m really struggling with this seasonal change year after year. But now, after washing my eyes open with cold water, two cups of tea with cookies and a few drops of vitamin D I’m finally somewhat awake. So it’s time to grab the umbrella and face the day. Dress: Vintage
red vintage skirt, vintage Gucci bag, sneakers from See by Chloé and Massimo Dutti knit.
It was the first time I visited the Brussels Vintage Market at K-nal. In the industrial interior young designers were selling their creations, vintage traders anything from shoes to sunglasses and dresses to beautifully aged leather bags. The busy staff was serving bagels and delicious pea soup to the hungry and colorful beverages to the thirsty. The Hé Madameke necklaces were combining guns and sharp objects with blindfolded forest animals. Lovely! The colorful necklaces of Byram Bxl stood out. Byram explained that he has recently started to work with new materials and the teasers he had with him looked stunning. If I wasn’t so broke at the moment, I would have gone home with one! If only I could see the lady who tiptoed around in these back in the days.
I found this hand made silk blouse in a vintage store already a good year ago. I love the golden drawn picture of a fox on it, it travels with me wherever I go, not cunning but humming as we go.
Today I felt like wrapping myself in some very cosy clothes: warm, soft and comfortable. Loose silk tunic/dress from All Saints and pants from COS. Massimo Dutti shoes and a vintage belt.
Today started dark as night with pouring rain and thunder but after work the sky was clear enough to enjoy a glass of wine on a terrace and share some laughs with my friends. And I took my vintage leather skirt out for a walk for the first time. I’m wearing a vintage leather skirt, silk blouse from Mango and golden necklace: all three I got from my mom. MiuMiu bag, Massimo Dutti shoes, Cette stockings and an unfinished scarf in angora and merino wool.
